It is as much a vulgar, extravagant display of entrepreneurial wealth as it is an example of India's growing economic and sporting prowess. While it is thoroughly entertaining and I admit I am among those drawn into it because of its fast pace and buzz, I hope it transcends beyond merely being a capitalistic machine into something truly useful for young, aspiring cricketing talent within the country. The I.P.L. signals both a coming of age of Indian cricket as well as the complete hegemony that it exercises on World cricket!
