And Yet One More

Figure 1: The birthday of the future (or so I wish)

The 5-bit counter overflows. I turn 32.

Maturity, responsibility and a sense of balance beckons.

I, however, refuse to listen.

[What I said at 31 and at 30]

Happy New Year everyone !

  1. The we see a Panda bear riding a Cheetah (A chinese endagered riding a African endangered…can happen only in a zoo in Bihar)..we will know that Arnab has achieved Nirvana (became a Buddha)

  2. Arnabda –

shubho janmodin!! May you write many millions of posts on assorted subjects – movies, mithunda, politics etc etc..

  3. I Hope you are not sued for publicly smoking a cigarette in your future birthdays 😛
Wonderful . really love your illustrated posts.

  4. are you going to turn into
    a) an endangered species (as a server of humour)?
    b) bamboo eater?
    c) crown wearing royalty?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY,( er, with ice-cream cake?)

  5. GB,
Many happy returns of the day and happy new year..
nice birthday pics you got there..your childhood smile (2nd pic) resembles the one in the adult pic

  6. “Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death”

I like that panda photo. It is very psychedelic. Just like that brilliant movie, “No Smoking”, you decided to give the world your 1 Rupee (2 cents)via this blog. Your soul is better off by this act. And in turn this has helped plenty of others like me find mine.
When the sixth bit overflows another 32 years later, write a post comparing the first 32 to the last 32. You can mature after that. Till then just rock on! Many many happy returns of the day GB.

  7. Hi Dada,

Many man yhappy returns of the day. If i ever feel depressed , all i have to do is to read the article you wrote regarding Himesh Reshammiya’s Aap ka Surooor ….That cheers me up like anything. Keep writng articles such as those and have a great life ahead.

  8. Shubho Jonmodin! It’s hilarious how in Figure 2 (b?) all are eying the cake except the birthday boy. 🙂

  9. Aaee, hum tereko janmadin ka hardik shubecha wish karta hai . The very 80’s snaps with their old world filter and malnutritioned friends in the background brought back personal memories of birthday parties spent with friends and neighbors I no longer know.

  10. Happy B’Day!!!!!! If Shahrukh Khan can start a national revoltion with his 6 packs at age 42, why cant you at 32? ( a 6 pack of beer , i meant in your case 🙂 )

  11. Happy Birthday Arnab.
Do not worry about getting old. Believe me(a 38 year old), it gets better with time.

Keep writing such stuff and you would always be young at heart.

    Happy New year too.

  12. Gosh, how adorable are those two photos. Makes me want to rummage through my things back home and dig out all my old photos.

Have a wonderful birthday and a great year ahead of you – and yes I remain an admiring reader. By the way, I may be wrong but you seem to have never done a full post on our beloved Baapi(or Bappi) da yet? I would have written one myself, but you do such a better job with these things.

  13. “But they, while their companions slept were toiling upwards, in the night” wrote Sir Walter Scott.

What I most admire about you, Arnab, apart from your humor, is your energy. Keep going!

    Happy B’day and New Year

  14. okay, I know I’m a bit late but regardless of that…hope you had a very, very, happy birthday. And Happy New Year, too !
    Eat lots of cake !

  15. hey GB

no point wishing you birthday or new year… both very stale now…
but must compliment your desire to become a panda… i had always had a desire as a kid to have a pet panda but my parents kept telling me that they can become violent so they never got me one…
after seeing your wish i’m almost hoping that some years later i’ll have a pet panda… wonderful… i’ll stay in touch…

  16. If that really is your picture, then I must say u were a pretty goodlooking kid. What happened???????????
